Last year, I had the pleasure of interning at Everywhere Agency, a social media marketing firm located in Atlanta, GA. Through my experience of interning there, I was able to learn the ins and outs of social media and why it's only continuing to grow. Along the way I was able to meet amazing women who not only taught me valuable information, but who also happen to be badass girl bosses, too. Long story short, I loved interning there so much I decided to come back for the summer. 

One of the many perks of interning at Everywhere Agency, aside from the free lunches, is attending events held by their clients. The most recent one being The High Museum of Arts. Yup. Over the weekend Kenzie and I were able to attend their most recent exhibit, The Rise of Sneaker Culture. The exhibit showcased almost 200 pairs of iconic sneakers from the mid-nineteenth century to now, specifically the 1860s to now. The 1860s!!!! Can you imagine???? Seriously, people getting onto their horse driven carriages probably going up to a shoe store late at night and waiting in line to get the newest pair of sneaks.... in the 1860s. Okay so my imagination may be a little farfetched, but still. How cool! We saw a pair of sneakers that actually had heels on them for women who were playing sports. Crazy. Women had to wear sneakers with heels in order to play a sport!!! Men, listen, not trying to put you guys down but the fact that we used to play sports in heels is just, like...not saying we're better than you but...if the shoe fits. 

Anyhow, the event was filled with sneakerheads of all shapes, sizes, colors, etc. The event brought out dance crews to hype the crowd up and drinks to get the moves flowing. Overall, it was a wonderful event. Showcasing the importance and/or rise of the sneaker culture. After checking out the exhibit, Kenzie and I decided to stroll over to other exhibits at the High. It was a great night out in Atlanta filled with good music, good drinks, and very impressive sneakers to say the least.

Many of my friends know that I have a borderline obsession with the moon. What was supposed to be a backyard with a pool, over time, became my own personal Griffith Observatory. For my graduation gift, I've asked my parents for a telescope (again, borderline obsession with moon/space/galaxy - seriously I could talk about this all day).

So in the meantime, my friend Hannah referred me to an app called StarWalk, which is basically a telescope for millennials. Being a self-proclaimed moon watcher, I took it upon myself to do some research on this upcoming full moon. Aside from causing trouble sleeping—so my dad says—this full moon was actually a Blue Moon.

Now, it doesn't actually turn blue, although people have their doubts. The Blue Moon is really just a Full Moon, but with two meanings. The older defines the Blue Moon as the third full moon in an astronomical season with four full Moons. This typically happens every 2.7 years, to be exact. When one of the seasons in a year has four full Moons instead of the normal three, the third full Moon is called a Blue Moon. The newer describes the Blue Moon as the second full Moon in a month with two full Moons. This definition came about through a misinterpretation from a 1943 issue of the Maine Farmer’s Almanac.

Does it matter which meaning you want to use? No. It’s completely up to you which one you prefer to use. Confusing, I know.

But by the newest definition, there was indeed a seasonal Blue Moon on Saturday, May 21^st, 2016. The night I spent entirely too much time being mesmerized by this phenomenon in my driveway. The next monthly Blue Moon won’t occur again until January 31^st, 2018. The next seasonal Blue Moon won’t be back until May 18^th, 2019. Pretty cool (and slightly contradicting) if you ask me.

Finals were finally over, and I decided I should go on a little vacay because:

1. Why not?

2. My very best friends were going to Charleston for their alumni weekend, and I was recently diagnosed with a serious case of FOMO. I take my health very, very seriously.

Regardless of the fact that I have never attended one class at the College of Charleston (Go, Cougars!!) (Insert "She doesn't even go here!" joke), I took it upon myself to join in on the fun. I like to think that I'm a Cougar by association. Whatever the case may be, I packed my bags and headed to the Holy City to enjoy a wonderful weekend, amazing food, and—most importantly—an open bar.

You know what they say: what happens in Charleston, stays in Charleston…

…Unless you're me and post about it on your blog, then it doesn't. But you understand where I'm coming from.

Hi everyone!! After a short hiatus filled with studying for finals, procrastinating over finals, and then taking finals...I'm back!!! Just like Alice Cooper, school is out for the summer and FOREVER because I will be receiving my undergraduate degree in just two short months! Look mama I made it!! 

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

I've decided that even though I am no longer taking social media marketing (shout out to my professor Tyra Burton!!), why not continue this blog? I mean, I have all this free time now and I'm sure you're just as interested as to what is going on in my life just as much as I am....right? So, over the next couple of weeks Scales Of Venus will be going under the virtual knife to be organized and tailored to somewhat perfection. I've got a couple tricks under my sleeve and I can't seem to rid myself (and the people) of my blog just yet.

I enjoyed my last college (undergrad) spring break in New York City, of all places. Mackenzie and I landed in NYC just in time for brunch and bottomless mimosas...you could say it was planned. I bought way more than I should have, per usual, shared laughter, old/new memories, and sarcasm  over a couple drinks in Brooklyn with some of the sweetest gals around. The week I had been anticipating for 6 + months was over in a New York minute. Another trip in the books. Another post of pics from my trips.

But you know what they say, time flies when you're having fun!!

This is a little bit of 'I need to post something so I don't miss the assignment deadline'/'I also am missing Charleston' post. So guess what? I'm talking about Charleston! Surprise!!!Two of my besties recently moved from there/graduated from The College of Charleston (go cougars!!) *sigh* and I can't help but be a little selfish and sad at the fact that I won't be able to go visit The Holy City free of charge.
